چکیده
Pollution of the environment by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is great concern because their persistence, toxicity, mutagenic and carcinogenic nature. The distribution 8 PAHs in water surface sediment from M’Badon Bay (Ebrie Lagoon, Côte d’Ivoire) was investigated using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). results showed that mean PAH concentrations ranged 0.08 to 2.70 µg/L waters 0.37 25.9 µg/kg sediments. It found pyrene indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene have highest (12.35 4.69µg/L, respectively) while only sediments (154.1 µg/kg). Furthermore, benzo[a]pyrene are frequently detected during dry, wet, flood seasons. In addition, wet season for both Diagnostic ratio revealed a petrogenic origin contamination bay equivalent toxicity indicated low living organisms. Also, benzo[k]fluoranthene exceeded some cases European Union Maximum Allowable (0.1 µg/L). this study suggest may result cancer risks local communities who use it fishing domestic purposes.

Biodegradation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Petroleum Contaminated Soils
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are a class of potentially hazardous chemicals of environmental and health concern. PAHs are one of the most prevalent groups of contaminants found in soil. Biodegradation of complex hydrocarbon usually requires the cooperation of more than single specie. In this research biotreatment of PAH (phenanthrene) was studied in a solid-phase reactor using indigenou...

Distribution ratios and sources of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), including Fluoranthene (Flt), Pyrene (Pyr), Benzo(a)pyrene (BaP), Benzo(k)fluoranthene (BkP), Indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene (IP), Benzo(ghi)perylene (BgP) in urban surface and subsurface soil collected from Riyadh city, Saudi Arabia was studied. The sum of the six PAHs ranged from 30.5-1016.6 ng g -1 with an average of 286.6 i...
متن کاملSource Apportionment of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in sediments from Chalong Bay, Phuket, Thailand
The potential sources of 16 PAHs in surface sediments from highly tourism activities of Chalong bay, Phuket province, Thailand were apportioned. Twenty-eight of sediment samples were collected by using van Veen grab Sampler from Chalong bay, Phuket. Quantitative analysis of the 16 PAHs which categorized according to the USEPA was analyzed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS). Moreove...
متن کاملPolycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) traceability in old buffalos living in south west part of Iran
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a class of complex substances that are produced during incomplete combustion of fossil fuels. PAHs are known to be persistent pollutants which can remain in nature for years. In 1991 during the first Persian Gulf War south west part of Iran was contaminated heavily. This study was undertaken to see if the PAHs can be traceable in animal tissues many...
متن کاملPolycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in livers of California sea otters.
Concentrations of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were measured in livers of 81 adult female sea otters collected along the California coast in 1992-2002. Concentrations of summation operatorPAHs in livers of sea otters were in the range of 588-17400ng/g lipid wt (mean: 3880ng/g, lipid wt). On a wet weight basis, the concentrations ranged from 17 to 1430ng/g (mean: 146ng/g). Overall,...
